Being a beginner, you shouldn't go head first and get a paid webhost. You should start off with a free webhost. The following is a list of webhosts that provide free webspace: Angelfire Geocities Free Websites 50 Megs DBZ Host There are many more, but these are the main ones I've come across. Each webhost is different, so now I'm going to help you decide which one is the best for you to use. Angelfire -- Angelfire is the webhost that I use for many reasons and to me, is by far the best. First of all, Angelfire provides 50 megabytes of webspace, FREE. Second of all, it's webshell is very easy to use. The webshell allows you to create your pages right on the site, without the need of a HTML editor such as Macromedia Dreamweaver or Microsoft Frontpage. Third of all, it allows SSI (Server Side Includes) unlike other free webhosts. All that is required of you is to show either an embedded ad, or a popup ad on your page. The only disadvantage is that your website url is a subdomain of a subdomain. Example: https://www.angelfire.com/realm/yoursubdomainhere. However, you can just get a free url fowarder for a shorter url. Example: http://www.yoursubdomainhere.cjb.net. Geocities -- Geocities is pretty popular, but it's free webhosting is pretty limited. You are only allowed 15 megabytes of free webspace. On the brightside, you get your own subdomain. Example: http://www.geocities.com/yoursubdomainhere. FreeWebsites -- Sorry, but I know nothing about this. Go to their website to learn more about them. 50 Megs -- I got an account in 50 megs once, but deleted it immediately. Although they give you 50 megabytes of free webspace, updating your site is extremely complicated. DBZ Host -- I don't know too much about DBZ Host, so I can't really say much about it. You get you own subdomain. Example: http://www.dbzhost.com/yoursubdomainhere As you can see, I would clearly suggest Angelfire. It has many advantages that other webhosts do not have.
